Nokia Signs Up Google For Building Cloud-Based 5G Network

On Thursday, Nokia signed a partnership with Alphabet’s Google Cloud unit for developing core 5G network infrastructure and allow business customers for availing services such as smart retail and automated manufacturing.

Cloud computing units of the big technology companies like Microsoft and Amazon are also in news of collaboration with telecom vendors ahead of deployment of 5G infrastructure to corner a share of new businesses which the new technology might enable.

When Nokia is set to bring its 5G expertise, Google Cloud will serve as the platform for launching the applications and assisting the customers in development of an ecosystem of services.

Amol Phadke, the managing director of Google Cloud explained to Reuters, saying, “We will start to see some of these things to get in the live environment by end of this year.”

He also added that the timeline for the availability of the services will be depending on the telecom operators.
